1. Park your car in Lahaina at one of the many parking lots and take a bus to the start line. The Prison Street Parking lot is free and the others are around $5. The shuttle bus pick up is at the Prison Street parking lot on Front Street.
2. 15K pick ups are at Prison Street parking lot at 5:45 am and at Whalers Village at 6:15 a.m. The 5K pick up is at Prison Street only at 7 a.m.
3. Pick up a free Maui Driving Map at your hotel if you did not pick one up at the airport baggage area.
4. Or sleep in and have someone drop you off at the start line and meet you in Lahaina for an after race brunch
5. The 15k race starts at 6:50 a.m. Dress skimpy. Temperatures in January range between 63-79 degrees.
6. The start line is at Napili Park on Maiha St. just off of the upper Honoapiilani Hwy.30. Maiha St. is 1/2 mile north of Napilihau St. Maiha St is not marked on the Maui Maps. (see yahoo map)
7. Buses will drop you off at the entrance to Maiha St and you will walk the 1/10th mile to the start line and bathrooms.
8. It will be dark with about a 1/3 moon before the 15K start.
9. The bathrooms at the start and Napili Park will be lit.
10. The race starts off with a 1/10th mile slight uphill run to the Upper Honoapiilani Highway and then a right turn and 9.2 miles of downhill to the finish.
11. The airport road sign at Kahana is 2.4 miles from the start line.
12. At 3.1 miles you will find the first aid station.
13. Pass Star Market on your right at about the 4 mile mark.
14. The 2nd aid station is at the Valley Isle Fitness Center at about 4.5 Miles
15. The 10 K (6.2 mile) mark is at Hanakao'o Beach Park (yahoo map) (AKA: Canoe Beach) entrance and is the start for the 5K run/walk (and has flush toilets).
16. Your 3rd aid station will be just south of the 5K start line at Hanakao'o Park.
17. Between mile 6.2 and 7.2 are several places for spectators to park, cheer, and enjoy the ocean views while waiting to cheer.
18. Bathrooms are available at the 10K mark
19. Turn right on to Front Street at just past mile 7.1
20. You will pass the Lahaina Cannery Shopping Mall on your left at about mile 7.7. This is where most of you will have picked up your race number and T-shirt.
21. The final aid station will be at The Old Lahaina Luau on the ocean side at 7.9 miles. This is the best luau in Hawaii.
22. You will have 8/10 mile left when you pass the Hard Rock Cafe on your left.
23. Forest Gump's is ocean side 3/4th mile to the finish and Moose McGillycuddy's is on the left and Kimo's is on the right at Mile 8.7. Moose's has an overlooking balcony for breakfast for your friends to watch you run by.
24. On your right, overlooking the ocean and Front Street is the famous "Cheeseburgers in Paradise" also open for breakfast. with 6/10 mile left.
25. The Pioneer Inn is on the Banyan Tree block on your right, another great place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The inn faces the harbor on one side and the Front street race course on the other side.
26. At 9 miles the single Banyan Tree on your right covers most of the block.
27. The finish line is in front of Kamehameha Iki Park at the very south end of old Lahaina Town. This is the area where King Kamehameha lived and played. Traditional Hawaiian canoes are built and displayed here. It has a nice beach with views of Lanai and the harbor. A beach shower is nearby. see Yahoo Map
28. Traditional Hawaiian entertainment will be awaiting you, along with your finishers medals, age division awards and snacks.
29. Award presentation will be at 9am at the finish area.
30. Have your friends or honey meet you for brunch and to give you a ride home after the event.
31. There is lots to do and see in Lahaina after the event.
32. Plan on the Old Lahaina Luau that evening to celebrate your great run. They do our last aid station at 7.9 miles. We will see you there.
Walkers please note: The course will open in some areas to traffic behind the runners starting at 8:00 am For those taking longer than 8:50 a.m. please move to the sidewalk, carry a course map, water and be self sufficient and familiar with the route as volunteer support will be limited after this time. Intersections will be open on Highway #30 and you will be required to obey traffic signals.
